Cryotech Deicing Earns ISO 9001:2000 Certification

FORT MADISON, Iowa, November 23, 2009.
Cryotech Deicing Technology, a division of General Atomics International Services Corporation, a world leader in the manufacturing and marketing of environmentally compatible deicers, today announced that it has achieved conversion to ISO 9001:2000 certification from BSI, Inc., a quality management systems registrar, having previously been registered to ISO 9000:1994 in March, 1998.

The new standard, released in December 2000, is an internationally recognized quality management system standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO 9000:1994 was a procedure-based Quality Management System (QMS). ISO 9000:2000 is process-based and enables organizations to link business objectives with business effectiveness more directly.

"Cryotech has always been committed to our customers and our quality products", stated Keith Johnson, Cryotech's General Manager. "Achieving certification to the new standard demonstrates that our focus remains on quality, world-class performance, and continuously monitoring our business operations. This ensures that we deliver on the promises we make to our customers, employees, and vendors." Cryotech's Quality Manager, Michelle Pezley, added, "We are very proud to have gained certification. This activity has benefited us greatly in further improving our quality systems, as well as greatly reducing the documentation required."

Cryotech began its registration process in December 2000, shortly after the new standard was released. As part of the registration process, BSI performed on-site assessments, examined Cryotech's documented procedures, and audited its overall operations. To determine continued compliance with ISO 9001:2000, as with ISO 9000:1994, BSI will periodically conduct routine surveillance audits of Cryotech's business operations.

"By earning ISO 9001:2000 certification, Cryotech is further demonstrating its commitment to quality," said Robert Perry, President of BSI, Inc. "To achieve this so soon after the standard was released is a real achievement. By basing their system around processes, reducing their documentation and using ISO 9001:2000 as an extra set of eyes, Cryotech will be able to improve quality and remain at the cutting edge of their industry. The company's employees are committed and use well organized processes - ISO 9001:2000 certification can only serve to improve an already top-of-the-line business."
