Polar Plus™ Type I Concentrate and Polar Plus Type I Dilute(s) Aircraft Deicing Fluids
Cryotech E36®, Cryotech XT360®, Cryotech NX360®, Cryotech EX180®, and Cryotech BX36® Liquid Runway Deicers
Cryotech QF7® Flash Freezing Fluid
The following procedure is to be used when sampling all Cryotech Aircraft Deicing and Runway Deicing Fluids with the exception of Polar Guard Type IV Aircraft Deicing Fluid.
Equipment Needed:
- 1 - 250 ml wide mouth polyethylene sample container
- Zone Sampler or Wheaton Bomb Sampler (if top sampling only)
- Disposable gloves
- Paper towels
- Truck seals
- Knock-off hammer for releasing hatch dogs (if applicable, typically only applies to iso-containers)
Procedure:
Sampling may be done from the top of the truck or container as shown in items 1 – 4 below. Sampling may also be done at the bottom of the truck--some trucks are equipped with specific sampling valves. Sampling from either the top or the bottom of the truck is acceptable if the pre-load inspection included verifying that all valves, internal & external, were clean prior to loading the Cryotech product.
Items 1 – 4 for use if sampling from top of container or truck:
- Samples are to be taken approximately 3 feet below liquid surface.
- Open container hatch.
- Flush sampler by lowering sampler to sample depth, allow sampler to fill, and drain sampler back into tank.
- Collect sample by lowering sampler to proper depth and allow sampler to fill. Remove sampler and empty contents into sample bottle.
The following items 5 – 9 relate to any sample taken, regardless of where sample was pulled from:
- Repeat sampling until approximately a 250 ml sample has been collected. Allow some head space in bottle.
- Cap sample bottle, clean bottle exterior and label properly.
- After collecting sample, hatch must be properly closed, latched and sealed.
- Bottle must be properly labeled with:
- Original container number
- Container number
- Seal number
- Date sampled
- Product name (i.e. Polar Plus Type I Concentrate, Polar Plus Type I Dilute(s), E36, XT360, NX360, EX180, BX36, or QF7)
- 5 digit lot number
- Sample location
- Name of sampler
- Tighten container cap (careful not to break), seal with tape, place in a 1 gallon zip lock bag and packaging according to DOT requirements and ship by courier service to:
