Deicing Products > Cryotech NAAC® Commercial

Other Information

PREWETTING

NAAC is most effective as a deicer when prewet at the spreader spinner with CF7 liquid commercial deicer. Begin at 10% CF7 by weight of NAAC and adjust for local conditions.

EQUIPMENT CONSIDERATIONS

NAAC may be applied with existing solid deicer spreading equipment. Spreaders should be calibrated for accurate application. NAAC weighs 50-54 pounds per cubic foot, while urea is typically 40-45 pounds. Routine washing with warm soapy water is recommended when equipment is removed from service, followed by a thorough washing after the deicing season.

Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users

Non-chloride based Sodium Acetate (Cryotech NAAC®), Calcium Magnesium Acetate (Cryotech CMA®), and Potassium Acetate (Cryotech CF7®) are eligible for matching Federal Funds under the SAFETEA-LU act that was passed in August 2005. Through the SAFETEA-LU act, funds are available for low corrosive anti-icing/deicing applications and environmentally preferred anti-icers/deicers used on highway bridges through 2009. This act is building on the foundation provided by the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) and the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century of 1998 (TEA-21), which originated to help preserve and rehabilitate America's bridges. There is approximately $21.6 billion authorized through 2009 for the Highway Bridge Program section of the act.
